Businessman
Luo Yusheng goes back to his village in Hebei province of North China because
of the death of his father. His
mother is insisting that all their traditional burial customs be honored in the
burial. Times have changed and
many people will need to carry the body back to the village. This is done because it is the road
home. His father was the village
teacher and Lou’s return to his home brings back his memories of how his
parents met.
This
is one of my all time favorite movies.
Lou’s mother fell in love with his father when he came to the village to
teach. He’s sent back by the
Communist authorities and she mourns his leaving. When she hears he will be able to return, she waits by the
road in a blizzard all day until she sees him. 5* (I really love this movie)
