The claim is presented and examined that most or all of the degenerative diseases afflicting us can be controlled or reversed by rejecting our present menu of animal based and processed foods. In the 60's, Dr. T. Colin Campbell is a nutritional scientist working to find a way to feed impoverished Third World nations. It changed his life when he went to the Philippines and discovered that affluent children with diets rich in animal based foods had high rates of liver cancer compared to children eating plant based diets. At the same time, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn was head of the Breast Cancer Task Force at the Cleveland Clinic, he saw that the diseases he was seeing in patients were almost nonexistent in areas of the world that consumed plant foods.
Dr. Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn present a compelling argument and they both follow their diet practices in their lives and in advice to their patients. Several patient histories are followed as they change their diets to help their physical health. Food as a medicine is a different concept. 4* (I really liked this movie)
