LaSonia and Willy
live next door to each other in a Texas trailer park. They are best friends and they get together in Willy’s
trailer every day. Willy is
married to JD and he’s a blue-collar truck driver with an abusive nature. He stops by the neighborhood bar every
night after work to have 4-5 beers.
Then he goes home to Willy.
He expects fresh bread and dinner on the table as soon as he goes into
the trailer. Any little thing can
set him off and everything that goes wrong is Willy’s fault. JD is upset that they are not having
steak, they are not having cherry dump cake and that is his favorite
dessert. He throws the tuna
casserole dish across the kitchen.
When he finds out the TV is not working, this means he needs to hit
Willy. He tells her she needs to
pay to get it fixed but she doesn’t work because he doesn’t want her to. He doesn’t give her enough household
money to cover the food costs, buy steak every night and a TV repair.
There were so many
times I wanted to beat up my TV because it would be like beating up JD!! LaSonia can hear JD and Willy when they
fight but she’s too scared of JD to go over to their trailer. JD doesn’t even want LaSonia in his
trailer at all and at any time!! There aren't very many answers to Willy's problem!!
