This movie is based
on a novel written by William Boyd.
The year is 1976 and Ruth Gilmartin travels with her young son to see
her mother Sally. She lives in
rural Cambridgeshire and Sally tells Ruth that she was recruited as a British spy
in 1939. Sally is really Eva
Delectorskaya and she is a Russian refugee. Her first assignment was to meet with the adviser to the President to find out if the Americans were going to fight in WWII. Her second assignment was to provide a
map to American agents of a planned German invasion of America. This task did not go well and Eva
thinks she was betrayed. She survives an attempt to kill her and her colleagues begin to die.
I had a difficult
time remaining interested in this film.
So many twists and turns plus you don’t know who is really on what
side? I did like the clothing,
hairstyles and cars of the period.
