This series is set in
1943 during WWII and it follows the Coyne family, their neighbors and the townspeople in
the fictional village of Moybeg. Francis Coyne is now an adult and he is looking back to the past and he narrating the series. Rose and her husband Michael have two
daughters, Kate and Emma and a son Francis. Englishwoman Rose is trying to fit in with the Irish
people. The US Army Air Force has
set up a base with 4,000 servicemen in the middle of their rural area of
Northern Ireland. The military
wants to be a positive addition to the region and they also want to fit in with
the Irish people. Conflict is the
last thing they want but it can also be oil and water trying to coexist? Many times Rose feels the same way.
I thought this was
very good, especially watching the behavior of the military men from American. They smoke Lucky Strikes and the Irish
people who smoke think this brand is pretty good. Flying Fortress bombers are continually taking off and
landing. The pilots worry that
they won’t return from each mission they set out on. The scenery of this location is very beautiful. 3 ½* (I liked this series)
