The Lie 2018

This film is a remake of the 2015 film Wir Monster written by Marcus Seibert and Sebastian Ko.  It is also a Blumhouse production.  In this drama, a father and his 15 year old daughter are on their way to dance camp when they spot the daughter's best friend on the side of the road.  Britney is waiting for bus to take her to the same camp.  When they stop to offer Britney a ride, their good intentions soon result in terrible consequences.  The family quickly closes ranks and decides not to tell anybody what happened after they picked up Britney.  But, secrets rarely stay quiet for long!!  They soon find themselves faced with an impossible choice that will alter the course of their lives forever.

The father and daughter don’t end up going to the camp because hey turn around instead.  Her mother Rebecca is angry at her ex-husband Jay for not taking Kayla to the camp as was planned.  Jay explained that there was an incidence after they picked up Britney?  Sam is Britney’s father and he calls Rebecca when he learns that Britney didn’t arrive at the camp?  Rebecca tells Sam that Kayla was sick and they turned around.  She also tells Sam that Jay has taken Kayla to their doctor and Sam won’t be able to see them or talk to them at the moment.  Tensions escalate between Sam, Rebecca and Jay.  There is a twist near the end that I did not see coming??

Kayla’s parents are divorced and they go to extreme lengths to protect Kayla.  There is an attempted murder by drowning, a man is hit and killed by a car, there are punches in a quick skirmish, a teen girl cuts herself and she has scars.  There is profanity and beer drinking plus extensive lying.  3* (This movie is OK)
