At the age of ten years old, Liza Barton shot her mother. She was trying desperately to protect her mother from her estranged stepfather, Ted Cartwright. Despite his claim that the shooting was a deliberate act, the Juvenile Court rules the death an accident. Many people agreed with Cartwright that it was murder. The tabloids harshly compared Liza to Lizzie Borden and they continually pointed out the similarity of their names.
To erase and forget her past, Liza’s adoptive parents change her name to Celia. At age 28 she is a successful interior designer in Manhattan. She marries a childless sixty-year-old widower, Laurence Foster. Soon after, they have a son. Before their marriage, she reveals to him her true identity. Two years later on his deathbed, he makes her swear never to tell anyone so that their son Jack will not carry the stigma of her past.
Two years later, Celia is happily remarried. Then her peace of mind is shattered when her new husband surprises her with a gift!! It is the house where she killed her mother?? It soon becomes clear that there is someone in the community that knows Celia as Liza?
More and more, there are signs that someone knows Celia’s true identity. Next, the real estate agent who sold them the house is brutally murdered! Celia is the first person to see the crime scene and she becomes a suspect. As she fights to prove her innocence, she has no idea that her son Jack is now the target of a killer? Not only her son but also Celia is a target of the killer!! 4 1/2* (I liked this movie)
