Government and big business want to tear
down a historic neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. More than a dozen skyscrapers can be built in this area and a
new basketball arena for the New Jersey Nets. The plan is to use eminent domain laws to raze Prospect
Heights for this Atlantic Yards project.
Locals become divided on the project. Bringing new jobs to the area is
the positive side. The other side
does not want to be forcefully evicted from their homes. A contract is awarded by the city to
the private developer Forest City Ratner.
It would be a shock to anyone to be
evicted from their home or apartment. The reason is not because of anything they have done but what others want to do. Some of
the owners and tenants really put everything into fighting this. 3 ½* (I liked this movie)
93 min, Doc directed by Suki
Hawley, Michael Galinsky with Daniel Goldstein.
Note: Blockbuster 3 ½*, imdb 6.8 out of 10,
78% critic 79% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
