Hours 2013

Hours

Just before Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29, 2005, Nolan Hayes took his pregnant wife to the hospital with premature labor.  Abigail delivered a baby girl but she died right after the birth because of excessive bleeding.  Their baby is placed in an incubator with a ventilator.  The doctor said she should be breathing on her own in 48 hours.  She can’t be moved because the incubator is not portable.  Water starts to come into the hospital and everyone has evacuated.  The power goes out and Nolan must make sure the ventilator stays on my cranking the generator every few minutes.  He has no choice but to stay awake until help comes.
This film becomes slightly claustrophobic over time.  There is only Walker and a doll baby in a majority of the scenes.  It is almost like watching a clock ticking without seeing the time.  The last scene is the best part of the movie.  3* (This movie is OK)

97 min, Drama directed by Eric Heisserer with Paul Walker, Genesis Rodriguez, Nancy Nave, Shane Jacobsen, Natalia Safran, TJ Hassan.

Note: Imdb 6.5 out of 10, 61% critic 62% audience on Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert 2 ½*.
Special Note:  Paul Walker died on November 30, 2013 in a car crash.  His last films are Fast & Furious 6 2013
, Hours 2013, Vehicle 19 2013.
