Sam
and a woman are together on a plane, when they land, the woman asks him to hold
a doll for her. Sam's wife, Susy, was recently
blinded in a car accident and they have just recently married. Mike and Carlino are small time hoods
working with the woman from the plane.
They find her dead in Susy’s basement. Mike pretends to be an old friend of Sam and he plans to search
Susy’s apartment along with Carlino and their new partner Harry. They think because Susy is blind, they
can search while she is home. The
doll is worth a lot of money because it is stuffed with a fortune in smuggled
heroin.
The three thugs are morons and it's difficult to see them in action. Even though Susy is blind, she can still sense, hear and feel. I'm not sure they could put one over on a department store mannequin and there is a lot of overacting!! 2 1/2* (This movie is so-so)
108
min, Crime directed by Terence Young with Audrey Hepburn, Alan Arkin, Richard
Crenna, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Jack Weston, Samantha Jones, Julie Herrod.
Note: Imdb 7.9 out of 10, 94% critic 91%
audience on Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert 3 ½*.
Special
Note: Audrey Hepburn received an
Academy award nomination for her performance. Also, her character unscrews the bulbs from her lamps and she breaks the bulbs she cannot reach. I know the lighted bulbs would burn her hands if she tried to remove them?
