The
San Francisco Sun is a newspaper owned by a media conglomerate. Tom Lane writes a column for the Sun
and his face is on a lot of billboards.
Liz Madison works for a community newspaper, the Marin County
Voice. She writes an advice column
called Dear Madison. Tom Lane is
hoping to get his own television program and shoot a pilot. On November 2, the employees of the
Voice learn that the owner of the Sun has bought their paper. He intends to stop publication of the
voice to boost his bottom line.
Tom and Liz start a column war, which raises reading numbers for the
Voice.
I
wish this movie were a little less predictable. More subtlety is needed so I don’t see right away most of
what is going to happen. I would
like to have some surprises! The
scenes of San Francisco and Marin are nice. 3* (This movie is OK)
