Dr. Michael Joyce is
a prominent neurosurgeon and he operates on Ann Wright. Ann is a young girl with an object in
her brain pressing on the optic nerve.
She must have surgery or she will be permanently blind and she is already loosing her eyesight. Emma Wright is her mother and she is
very worried about Ann and also about the surgery. Michael and
Emma Wright form a friendship after the successful surgery. Michael is separated from his wife
and Emma’s husband is often away for lengthy business trips. Michael often lectures at a medical
school on the psychology of crime.
Usually his focus is on abnormal psychology but his latest lecture is on
the sane criminal.
There is a lot
of tension in this film. It’s in
black and white, very straight laced with British conservatism and strict social
behavior. James Mason is a mystery and you don't know what he will do next? The father of Ann Wright is talked about but never shown?
I thought this was very believable and interesting. 3 ½* (I liked this movie)
