This film is based on the 1983 hit single by Cyndi Lauper and it's a spoof of the MTV generation. Janey Glenn has just
moved with her brother and her parents to Chicago. She’s been on the move a lot because her father was a colonel in the
military. Her dad has a lot of
rules for the family and how they are to live. Janey goes to a Catholic School and she meets Lynne. Both girls are interested in dancing
and the program Dance TV. They
learn about an audition to select a new set of regulars for the program. They’ve GOT to be there!! Janey’s
father doesn’t approve of any of this type of behavior. Both dancing and tying out for a TV program. Janey meets Jeff and they begin
practicing together in the evenings.
Janey has to sneak out her bedroom window to meet with Jeff to practice.
Sarah Jessica Parker
has a LOT of hair!! Helen Hunt
looks just the same as she does now. Janey is very excited when she finds out the family will be going to Chicago. It's the home of the Dance TV program and she's going to do anything to be on this program. It's interesting to see the hairstyles, clothing of this period and the dancing. 3 1/2* (I liked this movie)
