Neville
Chamberlain is removed from his position as Prime Minister of Great
Britain. Winston Churchill is
selected to take his place. The setting
is the month of May 1940 during the advancement of Hitler Germany into
many European countries. There are
many in the government favoring brokering a truce with Hitler. Britain is most worried about an
invasion of their Island and the fate of the British soldiers during their stranding in
Dunkirk. Winston learns
that he doesn’t have very many supporters in government including King George
VI. He asks the British people what they want, peace or never give up?
This is very interesting with a lot of information about this period that I didn't know before. Gary Oldman transforms himself mentally and physically for this role. There are many quotes from Churchill from this time period that people still remember clearly. Churchill definitely had the weight of the world on his shoulders!! I don't think there was a chance of making a satisfactory deal with Hitler? 4* (I really liked this movie)
