Junior Doctor Ruby Walker arrives in India looking for a job and a distraction from her heartbreak. She anticipates the sunshine and picture-perfect beaches. These are not the realities of work at an under-resourced hospital. This is a medical drama soap opera combination.
The setting of this series is in tropical South India. The filming was actually done in southern Sri Lanka. The first season of this series had audience of around 6.7 million viewers and a 26% audience share. This success prompted ITV to commission a second series. This season was also a success so a third series was filmed. 4* (I liked this series)

Special Note: There are three seasons of this series, 2017, 2018, 2019. Amanda Redman in the role of Dr. Lyda Fonseca was badly
scarred when she was 18 months old on her left arm. She was scalded with a pan of boiling hot turkey and vegetable sup. She suffered burns to 75% of her body but her arm was the only part permanently damaged. The trauma was so severe that she was pronounced clinically dead at the Queen Victori Hospital in East Grinstead, Sussex.
Episode 2.1: An unusually hot spell brings dozens of heat stroke sufferers to the hospital.
Episode 2.2: Lydia is outraged to find that her former colleague Anila is now operating as a herbal healer and poaching Lydia’s patients.
Episode 2.3: Ruby sets up an outreach clinic at a distant tea plantation. A reluctant Gabriel accompanies her.
Episode 2.4: Ruby is still reeling from her discoveries at the tea plantation. She must decide if she can forgive past mistakes.
Episode 2.5: When a building collapses onto the local market the hospital is inundated with casualties.
Episode 2.6: AJ saves the life of young Hair, he was dumped outside the hospital with stab wounds but he refuses to name his attackers.
