Katie Minor (Kellie Martin) works as an accountant at a newspaper office. She submits replies to a "Dear Viola" letters to the editor sent to the newspaper where she works. She has a real knack for writing to people and getting to the heart of the matter. Soon the whole town is involved in the romantics and problems in the column.
I man’s wife has died and he writes to Dear Viola. He needs advice on moving on and taking care of his eight year old daughter. A new addition to the town is Jamie Estevez and she begins by asking who is the most eligible bachelor in town. That would be Russ Mitchell and he has been writing to Dear Viola. Jamie has her sights set on Russ!! It doesn’t matter to Jamie that she doesn’t get along with Russ’s daughter Meredith. That issue will change when Jamie has Russ wound around her little finger!!
This is a charming movie the entire family can watch and be entertained by. I like Kellie Martin as an actress. Russ and Katie know each other because everyone knows everyone in a small town. Little do they know that the town wants them together. Everyone in this town knows everyone’s business almost before they know it themselves!! Katie wants to be with Russ and she loves is daughter Meredith. But, she doesn’t want to come between Russ and Jamie until she learns what is really going on between Jamie and Meredith!!
Dear Viola has its hilarious moments while featuring a serious side to the story. It is really a family night movie and it was awarded the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for all ages. 4* (I liked this movie)
