This is an original series by Amazon. In the series premiere, a down-and-out lawyer seeks redemption by pursuing a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of his former law firm. Billy McBride is a drunk and a lawyer scraping together plea deals wherever he can find one. He is permanently living in the Ocean Lodge Hotel a few blocks from the beaches in Los Angeles and Raleigh North Carolina. McBride wakes himself up with whiskey and goes to bed with whatever and whomever he can find. Yet he’s not without clarity!! Even while wasting his talents slumming in the low levels of practicing law, there’s a sharpness to his decisions and an understanding that comes with earned intellect. McBride is a man who was beaten down and he’s choosing to stay there.
Until now, McBride has been sought out by another lawyer. She assumes he might want to retaliate against his former firm with a case she’s looking to settle. The drunken, divorced father of one is suddenly given renewed purpose. Not because he’s looking for revenge but because he believes in this case. A snag is complicating matters beyond his passionate vendetta. His ex-partner Donald Cooperman is against him because of his ex-wife Michelle McBride. She still works for the big and bad mega-firm sporting Billy’s name of Cooperman and McBride!!! 5* (I really liked this episode)
