Adele is a 22 year-old woman standing on a bridge overlooking the
Seine. She’s had nothing but a
string of bad luck with love, life and career. Gabor approaches her with the offer of becoming his partner
in a knife-throwing act. She
decides the water is the best choice but Gabor jumps in and saves her. She changes her mind and they are on
their way to Monaco with their new act. This is an entirely different world for
Adele, she gets a new fabulous hairstyle and they shop for unlimited make-up
and clothing. She’s a bit nervous
about the knives but her luck may have changed.
This is my first impression: Except for the concept of life versus death, this is just a
shallow romantic piece of fluff that takes a lot of effort to like. I didn’t know if I would be able
to finish this but it started to get better and there is a small twist at the
end. 3 ½* (I liked this
movie)
