Ah Tao has worked as a housekeeper for the
same family for 60 years. She was
sent to work for them by her mother, she has been a nanny and maid nearly all
her adult life. She has cared for
Roger since his birth and he considers her to be a member of the family rather
than an employee. Roger is a
successful movie producer with a very busy job and he appreciates the care she
takes of the house and the wonderful meals she makes for him. Ah Tao suffers a stroke and she is not
longer up to the demands of her job.
He agrees to help her move to a nursing home but he would rather she
live at his home with someone else taking over her duties.
Slow paced, gentle, quiet, emotional, never sentimental but focuses on
the details of living and doing what is right in your life. A little difficult to stay focused due
to the subtitles, sometimes they can’t be read because of the background color. The ending is unexpected. 3 ½* (I liked this movie)
