Tilikum has been
involved in the deaths of three people.
One was a top trainer with a record of always thinking of safety. Another trainer was held by his feet
and nearly killed but his knowledge and calmness saved him. This film uses interviews with former
trainers and experts to tell the nature of these animals and their ill
treatment by their caretakers in captivity.
I thought the scenes
of Tilikum being captured as a calf would be the worst part of this movie but
it wasn’t? There are so many
statements by former Sea World trainers of abuse of the orcas and also of the
trainers. “If you don’t want to do
this job, there is someone else waiting in line to take over!” When are we going to stop exploiting animals
to make money, which is the bottom line?
Aren’t these animals called “killer whales?” 3 ½* (I liked this movie)
