This
is the story of four teenage girls.
They are united by the fact they were all adopted from China. They live in different parts of the
United States but each one could not be kept by their birth mother. Many mothers were caught up in the One
Child Policy. Girls are not as
prized as boys because boys will support the family. Another fact they have in common is there is not very much
information or none at all about their family in China. 80,000 girls have been adopted from
China since 1989.
All
of the girls struggle with abandonment and wondering why their biological
parents left them. Some of the girls overcompensate by excelling in social and
academic area. In some
of the families, there are other adopted girls. This is very
interesting and all the girls are unique.
