Based
on a novel by the same name written by Judy Blume. The Wexler family has had a severe shock. Mr. Wexler was working at a
sandwich shop and he was killed in a robbery that only netted the thief $67. Gwen, her daughter Davey and son Jason
go to live with family in Los Alamos, New Mexico to try to recover. Davey and Jason don’t want to start a
new school here, they want to go back home but their mom isn’t strong enough
yet. Davey is seventeen and it’s
tough to start a new high school.
She does make a friend while she’s out in the desert, his name is Wolf. He’s American Indian and he teaches her
how to climb. Jason is much
younger and he’s in denial and won’t talk about his dad’s death.
This
is a good family movie. Loss and
moving are both hard on families and help can come in unexpected places. 3 ½* (I liked this movie)
