There are two stories
in this series. The first one is during WWII and the aftermath of the war. Michael and Thomas are both injured
during fighting and they meet in a hospital camp. They become friends and later Thomas marries Flora. Thomas and Flora have a son and he’s
named Robert James. Michael is a painter with a cottage in France and he leaves it to Thomas and Flora when he dies. The second story skips a generation and
it is about Flora and her grandson Adam.
He is a veterinarian and he lives with Flora. She gives Adam the cottage in France that was left to her
by her husband Michael. Adam meets an
architect and they begin to renovate the cottage.
I didn't know anything about this film before viewing and the subject was unexpected. At first I didn't know a generation had been skipped and then I caught on to that. The characters are believable and the acting is good. I do like dramas filmed in the UK. 3* (This movie is OK)

A lot of the material in this series is autobiographical for writer
