Overboard 2018

     Leonardo Montenegro is a spoiled and wealthy yacht owner.  He has cheated the woman who came to clean the carpets?  He didn’t pay her and he threw her along with her expensive equipment in the water.   He drinks too much wine in the evening and he falls overboard from his beautiful, luxurious and expensive yacht.  His crew is watching a soccer game and his helmsman is dancing on his job??  The carpet cleaner woman learns that Leonardo is in the hospital and that he has lost his memory.  She comes to the hospital and claims she is his wife.  She’s determined to get paid for the job she did and be reimbursed for the cost of her equipment.

     I am not a fan of the actor Eugenio Derbez!!  Probably some viewers really like him but he’s just not funny to me!!  Aside from that, I think this film is terrible!!  Anna Faris and Eve Longoria are OK in their roles but they are wasted in this film.  I think this film is just barely watchable!!  1 ½* (I really didn’t like this movie)

Special Note:  Filmed in Steveston, Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.  The doctor at the hospital where Leonardo is taken says that there has only been one other instance of amnesia in the town.  He's referring to Goldie Hawn’s character in the original film Overboard from 1987.  This time the roles are reversed, the person in the original film with amnesia was a woman and this time it’s a man.  Derbez is a major star in his home country of Mexico and he’s trying to expand the scope of his fan base.  He’s an actor, comedian and filmmaker and he’s 57 years old.
