Blake Lively stars as Stephanie Patrick, she is an ordinary woman on a path of self-destruction after her family is tragically killed in a plane crash. Stephanie was supposed to travel with her family on the plane but she didn't go. When Stephanie discovers that the plane crash was not an accident, she enters into a dark and complex world to seek revenge on those responsible and to find her own redemption. Based on Mark Burnell's spy series, from director Reed Morano (The Handmaid's Tale) and the producers of the James Bond film series.
This is an international thriller and Stephanie is a brilliant but grieving woman who's willing to transform into an assassin to avenge her family's deaths. The movie is marketed as a female Bourne Identity or an English version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and it is very violent. Expect everything from tense car chases and up-close-and-personal fist fights and brawls (sometimes to the death) to assassinations via gunshots, explosions and stabbings. The language is also quite strong and is used especially frequently. Stephanie also struggles with drug use and in the beginning she is a sex worker. Sex is implied but the movie's only actual love scene is limited to passionate kissing.
Okay this film has credible people in important positions behind it but that doesn’t make it into any kind of a film in real James Bond territory!! Many times it just doesn’t seem plausible or realistic?? 3* (This movie is OK)

Special Note: There is a brutal fight sequence between Jude Law and Blake Lively that was filmed in just one take after weeks of preparation. Lively broke her hand after delivering a punch to Jude's chest. It is a case of "life imitating art", because in the book Stephanie Patrick breaks her fingers though in a different way. The "piece of glass in Stephanie's hand" event was included in a different fight scene so that Lively could act in later scenes with that hand bandaged.
Logistics: Filming started in November of 2017 but due to Lively’s hand injury (which occurred in December 2017) filming was halted in February 2018 for her recovery. Filming resumed June 2018. Release date was also delayed at least twice. Originally scheduled for a 22 February 2019 before a delay of ten months and then rescheduled again for release on 31 January 2020. Lively had eight months of fighting technique instruction, defensive driving training, exercising, swimming and climbing.
