Waterboys 2016

     Both newly single, a Dutch crime author and his cellist son attempt to rekindle their feeble bond as the son joins the author on a publicity trip to Scotland.  Originally, Victor was scheduled to fly to Scotland but he changed his plans.  They are going by boat and shipping his car along with them.  Zack is afraid to fly and that is the reason for the changes.  Victor had come home to his wife and he found she had put all his items in a storage unit.  He can’t get into their home either.  Zack learns that he can’t get into his girlfriends flat!  She has kicked him out too.  Now Victor and Zack are bonding over their lack of relationships.  

     I can fully understand why Victor’s wife doesn’t want to see him!!  He has cheated on her more than multiple times!!  The only reason he is going to Scotland is because this is the only company that would publish his latest book.  They are willing to have a fishing session with Victor even though he has lied and he doesn’t know how to fish??  Zack will give it a try but he doesn’t know how to fish either.  3 1/2* (I liked this movie)

Special Note:  With financing and casting still underway for this film, British/Scottish band The Waterboys did two concerts in an Amsterdam premier pop venue Paradiso so Robert Jan Westdijk could film the concert scenes.  This is Waterboys' first feature since his debut 'Zusje' to be written, produced and directed by Robert Jan Westdijk himself.  The voice of the Scottish DJ was The Waterboys singer Mike Scott.  Filmed in Edinburgh Scotland and the language is Dutch.
