Madame Bovary 2000

Product Details     Emma was educated at a convent, soon after she returns home she weds the widowed country doctor who treated her father’s broken leg.  She has high hopes of romance and passion but Charles doesn’t understand what that means.  Since he’s away a lot and Emma gets lonely, he gets her a little dog.  She soon becomes bored and discontent, the recommendation is a change of scene.  Charles moves her to another town but it takes a while for him to build up his practice.  She spends to excess on dresses and furnishings and this becomes a heavy burden for Charles.
There have been many versions of this story both on the screen and TV.  I didn’t know in the beginning of watching this film that it is a TV movie but I could tell by the feel of it when I finished.  Maybe Emma is a little spoiled and she doesn’t know anything about real life?  3* (This movie is OK)

180 min, Drama directed by Tim Fywell with Frances O’Connor, Hugh Bonneville, Eileen Atkins, Desmond Barrit, Keith Barron, Adam Cooper, Hugh Dancy.

Note:  Imdb 6.8 out of 10, no critic review 55% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
