This series is based
on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth. In
this new season, Sister Evangelina has health problems and the vicar Tom proposes
to Trixie. A family is living in
squalor with a ten-year-old in charge.
Sister Evangelina goes on sick leave and a new midwife arrives. Dysentery spreads through the area and
Trixie organizes the Rose of Poplar contest. Sister Mary Cynthia returns to Nonnatus House. Phyllis is helping a young pregnant
diabetic woman. Two school friends surprisingly rediscover each other in the delivery
room. Trixie and Sister Mary
Cynitha help a woman who uses sign language. During the Christmas season, a measles outbreak occurs.
I really like this
series and especially because realistic actors are used in the roles. This isn’t a group of models delivering
babies in couture gowns. The
situations are interesting and a lot of times complicated. This is not an easy life for the
sisters or the midwives. 4* (I
really liked this series)
