The year is 1976, Ruth
Gilmartin travels to rural Cambridgeshire to visit with her mother Sally. She is amazed to learn her mother is a
former spy for the British in 1939 and she is a Russian refugee. Her real name is not Sally Gilmartin
but Eva Delectorskaya. Eva went to
America to find out if the Americans intended to join the war. She is later assigned to supply a map
to American agents outlining a German plan to invade America. Eva spots errors in the map and then
her colleagues start to die one by one.
Eva believes she was betrayed.
Now in the 70’s, she believes her life is still in danger.
I realized right away
that I’ve seen this film before.
Ruth doesn’t know if she can believe what her mother is telling her or
is this a case of her mother growing older and imagining things? Ruth looks out into the woods behind
her mother’s house with a telescope and she believes she may have seen the
shadow of a man. Can this be
Ruth’s mind playing tricks on her too?
The scenes of young Eva in training as a spy cause you to wonder if you
would be able to learn what she is being taught? Would you be able to carry out a mission filled with tension and uncertainty? 3 ½* (I liked this movie)

There is a mistake with Eva’s eyes!! The young Eva has brown eyes and the older Eva has blue
eyes. There are two other films
with the title Restless. One from
2000 and another from 2011.
