Cold Pursuit 2019

Nels Coxman has a very important job in a resort town in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.  He keeps the winter roads clear of snow with his huge plow.  Nels lives with his wife Grace in a nice cabin away from the tourists.  He has been awarded “Citizen of the Year” by the community.  Nels and Grace have a teen son Kyle and he works with luggage at the local airport.  He is found dead of a heroin overdose?  Nels and Grace do not believe their son was using drugs?  Nels learns that Kyle was killed by one of the men working for a powerful drug lord in town.  Grace is mentally and physically broken and she moves out of the cabin.  Nels is out for vengeance and he has nothing to lose!!  Nels has hunting skills he puts to good use and he ignites a war between gangster Viking and a rival gang boss.
I wondered while I was watching this film what the body count would be?  It is 25 but there are more in other films!!  The top movie for the highest body count is Return of the King 2003 with 836.  And I thought 25 was a high number??   Liam Neeson takes action and he doesn’t bother to take names, the movie does that for him!!  I really liked the size of the
snow plow and what Neeson does with it's power!!  There are times when you have to laugh but it’s really not funny!!  4* (I really liked this movie)

119 min, Action directed by Hans Petter Moland with Liam Neeson, Laura Dern, Micheal Richardson, Michael Eklund, Bradley Stryker, Wesley MacInnes, Tom Bateman, Domenich Lombardozzi, Nicholas Holmes, Jim Shield, Aleks Paunovic, Glenn Ennis, John Doman, Emmy Rossum.

Note:  Imdb 6.2 out of 10, Rotten Tomatoes 70% critic 52% audience, Roger Ebert 2 ½* Matt Zoller Seitz, Metascore 57 out of 100 with 39 critics 6 out of 10 user scores with 100 reviews (49 positive, 37 mixed, 14 negative), The Guardian 2* out of 5* Peter Bradshaw, Amazon 3.5* out of 5* with 540 reviews, EmpireOnline.com 4* out of 5* Ian Freer, Letterboxd average 2.9* out of 5*.

Special Note:  Filmed in Fernie, Vancouver, Empress Hotel, British Columbia, Canada; Kananaskis County (Fortress Mountain) Alberta, Canada.  This film is a remake of In Order of Disappearance 2014 also directed by Hans Petter Moland.  Liam Neeson has stated that this will be his final action movie role?  A permit to film in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada was denied in early 2017.  Parks Canada objected because antagonist of the film is an aboriginal Canadian.  Even this actor Tom Jackson could not sway the government agency’s opinion and production was moved away from the park.
