With a filming crew and a one man mission, James May has set out to immerse himself in Japanese culture. He has always been intrigued and interested in Japan. This nation and its culture have remained a complete mystery to him. Usually, May is on Grand Tour with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond. He’s branched out on his own this time around. Before Grand Tour James was also on Car Talk with Clarkson and Hammond. This journey is from the north to the south of the country. He is interested in their culture and their unique approach to life. James can speak a few words of their language but not very much. He also doesn’t know anything about Japanese etiquette?
The scenery is very beautiful, especially the cherry blossoms. James works with haiku poetry, rubbing shoulders with Godzilla and exploring the culinary delights Japan has to offer. Along with him are guides, a camera crew and a producer. James really has a desire to learn as much as he can and he’s not afraid of looking silly or losing his temper!! Sometimes he tries to get around the crew and do things differently than they want him to do?? 3 1/2* (I liked this series)

Special Note: Jeremy Clarkson has branched out also. He is working on a new program on farming. Clarkson was fired from Top Gear because he punched Oisin Tymon, a Top Gear producer. Clarkson was told there was no hot food available after a day of filming? Richard Hammond is a presenter on Richard Hammond's Big. This is a TV series showing how engineers have designed and built some of the planet's largest structures.
