White Material 2009

White Material (2009)     Maria is a French woman who owns a coffee plantation in Cameroon, a country of western and central Africa.  The area falls into political chaos and she is warned to leave the area but she disregards the danger.  There are different factions roaming the area killing everyone.
This film is difficult to watch on all levels, it goes back and forth in time and you need to keep track of where you are chronologically.  Maria stands out as someone out of touch with reality, she walks down the dirt road in a perfectly clean and pressed light pink dress with leather sandals?  She works hard and the plantation is everything to her but what about her safety and that of her family and the workers?  3* (This movie is just OK)

105 min, Drama directed by Claire Denis with Isabelle Huppert, Christopher Lambert, Nicolas Duvauchelle.

Note:  Blockbuster 4*, imdb 7.0 out of 10, 87% critic 58% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
