Atafeh and Shireen live under the rigid rules of the oppressive theocracy in Iran. Atafeh is from a wealthy family and thrives on the energy and creativity of the underground art scene. Her best friend is Shireen and they both rebel against the restrictions imposed on them by the religious zealots who seek to govern their every thought and action. Atafeh's brother is a former classical musician who has just returned from drug rehab, he's determined to renounce his former ways and he joins the morality police.
Iran is a very difficult place to live for women who have no rights. A lot of the background information in this movie is not spelled out so it's a little difficult to follow. There are cultural differences that we don't understand also. 3* (This movie is OK)
