Sam is in the advertising business,
he makes a lot of money, he’s divorced and he has a son, Josh. Sam planned to celebrate a work
accomplishment by picking up Josh from college and celebrating. What Sam doesn’t know is that Josh has
headed to the school library where there will be a shooting. After Josh’s death, Sam spirals into alcoholism,
he gives up his job and begins living on a docked sailboat. Emily, Sam’s ex-wife comes by and drops
off some items that belonged to Josh.
Sam doesn’t want to take them and claims he doesn’t have room on the
boat. He discovers a box filled with
demo tapes with the music and lyrics written by Josh. Sam performs one of the songs at a local bar. Quentin is in
the audience, he convinces Sam to join with him and form a band.
This is a tough
subject and incidents like this shooting are frequently in the news. Sam is lost in his current life after
Josh dies and he begins to carve out a new one of basic survival. He
