Che begins and ends with Guevara as a
prisoner in Bolivia. He is about
to be executed following a failed attempt to lead a Communist revolution in
Bolivia. He begins telling his
story, in Mexico of the 1950’s, Che and Fidel Castro shared a jail cell and they
began planning a revolution in Cuba. Then Che is telling his story to an
American reporter in Havana recently after the Communist takeover. Che portrays Fidel as a great leader who
solved many difficulties and problems as the leader of their efforts to free Cuba from
dictatorship. Che spent years in
the mountains of various countries leading revolutionaries. Even though he had studied to be a
doctor, he felt he had found his life work in this endeavor.
This film is difficult to follow with all
the moving around in time. I guess
is doesn’t matter where he is or who he is leading because he is doing the same
thing? All I know is he gets sick
and he gets shot a LOT!! The
victory in Cuba provided an example to many nations in Latin America to to
change their governments with mixed results. 3* (This movie is OK)
