Beecham House is retirement home and also a home filled with retired
music performers. They need to
stage a fund-raiser in order to keep their theater program going. Every year they
have a concert on October 20 to celebrate Verdi’s birthday. A sudden new arrival at the home throws
some of the residents into disruption.
Jean, Reggie’s former wife, arrives as a new resident. A few of the people knew she was coming
but they didn’t warn Reggie and he is very upset. It was Jean’s later career as a soloist instead of part of
the quartet with Reggie, Will and Cecily that split up their marriage and
friendship. Her ego became larger
as her career grew.
This script needed to be very good to match the quality of the actors
but it is not. Feels stiff, flimsy, very little comedy and lightweight, veering
close to boring. 3* (This movie is OK)
