This film is based on
a novel by Colin Harrison titled Manhattan Nocturne. Porter Wren is a New York City tabloid writer. He’s always looking for a scoop and a
scandal. He's married to Lisa Wren,
she is a surgeon and they have two children, a son and a daughter. Caroline Crowley’s husband Simon died
and she wants Porter to find out more information about the unsolved
murder. The case becomes more and
more complex until it threatens Porter’s job, his marriage and his life.
Adrien Brody has
cornered the market on the hangdog look and manner. He will really go out on a limb to get a story and he’s
willing to sacrifice. He’s afraid
he won’t have a job every day so he’s very hungry for any story. It’s a good thing that a lot of this
film happens in the dark because that’s where it really belongs. 2 ½* (This movie is so-so)
