Natalie is very busy
and she is 50 something years old.
She teaches philosophy at a high school in Paris. She is very passionate about her job
and she devotes a lot of time with her students plus to her previous
students. She is married and she
has two children. She also takes
care of her elderly mother and she calls Natalie several times a day. Her mother is a model but she is
depressed and she calls the fire department several times a week. The department tells Natalie that they
are going to stop coming to her mother’s apartment.
Philosophy is the
study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, existence considered as
an academic discipline. Since this
is thinking, thought and reasoning, there are innumerable explanations of any
subject. This film reminds me of Woody Allen film
because his films are always about relationships? Also shown in this film is how the passage of time changes the
now to something different. I was
surprised to see the quantity of books in Natalie’s home. She reads many books and she is also a
writer of published textbooks. The
scenes of France and the countryside are very beautiful. 3* (This movie is OK)

Special
Note: Filmed in Ile-de-France and
Lyon, Rhone, Rone-Alpes, France. The
time of running listed on the back of the DVD is incorrect? This film is actually longer than 102
min. Director Mia Hansen-Love
based the film on her mother Laurence Hansen-Love as the character
Natalie. Her mother reviewed the
script and the only change she wanted was the name of the cat to respect the
cat’s privacy!! There is another
film with the same title of 1936.
