A
highly secretive biotech-research company hires Martin to travel from Europe to
search in Tasmania for a small tiger that is supposed to be extinct. The company believes the animal has
some kind of secretion that it uses to kill prey. They hope to discover what this is and if the DNA has a
benefit for science. Martin rents
a room from a local family and helps the mother and her two children when the
husband/father doesn’t return from a trip in the woods. The local loggers are very suspicious
of any strangers and they want to know everyone’s reason for going into the
woods.
There
are a lot of unexplained elements in this film, less holes in the plot may have
made for a better movie? I did not
like the ending at all and it seems to make the entire film a worthless effort? For once Dafoe is not the “bad guy” so
that is different. 3* (This movie
is OK)
