Uncle
Charlie is very charming but he has hidden secrets, he makes a trip from the
East Coast to Santa Rosa CA for a visit with his sister and her family. She has a daughter also named Charlie,
another daughter and a son. Two
detectives follow Uncle Charlie and they suspect him along with another man on
the East Coast of being the “Merry Widow Murderer." Wealthy widows have been murdered by one of these men.
This
is very good and interesting to see the cars and the towns of 1943. There was an actual Merry Widow Murder,
Earle Leonard Nelson. The
screenplay was based on a story by Gordon McDowell and written by Thornton
Wilder, Sally Benson and Alma Reville (Mrs. Hitchcock). The setting for this film is Santa Rosa CA. 4* ( I really liked this movie)
