I.Q. 1994

I.Q.

Catherine Boyd is the niece of Albert Einstein.  She is traveling with her fiancé James Moreland and they have trouble with his car.  They stop at a gas station and Catherine meets auto mechanic Ed.  He instantly falls in love at first sight with Catherine.  Ed meets Einstein and they like each other too.  Einstein and his friends, Nathan, Kurt and Boris scheme to get Catherine to realize that James is a jerk and Ed is the guy for her.  They go a little bit overboard on this project!
A young Meg Ryan and Tim Robbins.  Catherine doesn’t trust her brain, she cannot possibly be as smart as her uncle so she’s not smart enough.  She needs to marry a genius like James in order to have children that will be a match for Einstein.  They could be genius children but they could also be mediocre jerk children?  Genes have a way of going astray from what parents want!!  Entertaining but very lightweight considering the subject matter of cold fusion?  2 ½* (This movie is so-so)

100 min, Comedy directed by Fred Schepisi with Tim Robbins, Meg Ryan, Walter Matthau, Lou Jacobi, Gene Saks, Joseph Maher, Stephen Fry, Tony Shalhoub, Frank Whaley, Charles Durning, Keene Curtis.

Note:  Imdb 6.2 out of 10, 46% critic 48% audience on Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert 3 ½*.
