Matt
and his mother Beverly Cunningham fly to East Africa to go on a safari. His father is supposed to join
them on the second week of their trip.
His parents are divorced and his dad calls to cancel on his part
of the trip. This was not unexpected
because it is what he usually does.
Matt is very disappointed but he starts to have fun on the trip when he
meets Jomo and the animals at the sanctuary. Matt likes to spend a lot of time on his computer but it’s
not as exciting as Kenya. Both
boys really like Ellie, she is an orphaned baby elephant. Unfortunately, the sanctuary has sold
Ellie to Harlo Ethridge, he is an American businessman with a cattle prod. Matt and Jomo rescue Ellie from the
trailer and they set out to find an elephant herd that will accept Ellie. Beverly
and the safari guide Clive Potter plus Jomo’s father are very worried about the
boys being alone on the plains. They have a small airplane and they try several times to find the boys.
This is interesting and would be good
for children and young teens except for the opening scene. It was filmed in Kenya so the scenery is wonderful but it is a made for television movie. I think this was newly released because
of the popularity of Joseph Gordon-Levitt. (I wonder what he thinks about his haircut in this film?) 3* (This movie is OK)
