Gustave
H is the concierge at a famous European hotel and the time is in the 1930’s period
between wars. There is a new
employee at the hotel, Zeo Moustafa and he becomes the best friend of Gustave. Zeo is the lobby boy but they soon have many adventures together. Gustave
is bequeathed a famous Renaissance painting and there is a battle over an
enormous family fortune. There is also
another battle brewing with the Germans on the move into Europe. Many complications arise requiring a
lot of running to and running away.
Many
storylines are compressed into 100 minutes but they don’t seem rushed or hurried. Contains an under layer of melancholy
keeping the comedy from getting away with itself. There is a lot of humor and many stars in the cast. Everyone is putting there all into the
role selected for them even if it is a minor character. 4* (I really liked this movie)
