Based on the true story of a 19 year old woman in the 30's who was tried for the poisoning of her father and the attempted murder by poisoning of her mother. Violette is a thrill seeker who falls for a no-good slug. He is always in need of money and Violette hatches her scheme in order to inherit her father's fortune.Very good acting by Isabelle Huppert, Violette is very repressed by her home life but she is also mentally unstable. The ending is surprising. 3 1/2* (I liked this movie)
