This
is a docudrama based on a true story.
Bernie Tiede is an Assistant Funeral Director and he’s well liked in his
community of Carthage Texas. When
Marjorie Nugent’s husband passes away, Bernie goes out of his way to show her
kindness. Every person in Carthage does
not like Marjorie so this is really different for her. She begins to take over Bernie’s life
until he barely has room to breathe.
I
didn’t know until the end of this film that this was based on a true
story. This is a completely
different role for Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey is almost unrecognizable
as the local District Attorney.
This is good and you keep wondering how this is going to turn out. 4* (I really liked this movie)
99min,
directed by Richard Linklater with Jack Black, Shirley MacLaine, Matthew
McConaughey, Rick Dial, Sonny Carl Davis, Ira Bounds, Patty Allieri.
Note: Blockbuster 3*, imdb 6.8 out of 10, 92%
critic 78% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
