Virginia
is a single mom in a small town near Virginia Beach, VA. She has been seeing a married Mormon
sheriff and she thinks she’s having his baby. She isn’t, she went to the doctor and she has either
tuberculosis or lung cancer. She
doesn’t want to know what's wrong, she won’t go back and she continues smoking. Sheriff Richard Tipton is eager to
advance his career by running for public office and he can’t afford to have any scandal. Virginia is just barely able to handle
every-day-life, she was in a mental hospital after the death of her parents.
You
feel sorry for Virginia, she just does not get it that she’s not having a baby
and that she’s really physically sick.
Connelly and Harris are both good in their roles but there is something
basic that’s off about this film.
You have no sympathy for Harris and would like to kick him more than a
few times? Connelly’s character needs more sympathy than you have to give? 3* (This movie is OK)
