Poirot
is very interested in viewing a collection of Belgian miniatures at the home of
Rueben Astwell. Hercule is very
disappointed to find Mr. Astwell is universally disliked and he has no
appreciation for the miniatures.
Hercule learns Astwell is also the CEO of a chemical company that has
developed a formula for synthetic rubber.
Someone has broken into the lab trying to steal the file, Astwell wanted
to sell this valuable information to the highest bidder, even to the Nazi’s.
This
is good, everyone wants to profit from the windfall that synthetic rubber will
bring. The formula can’t get in
the hands of the Nazi’s and Astwell has no respect for people or country. 4* (I really liked this
movie)
