Robbie Hendrick is 14 years old, he lives in Glen Allan, Mississippi
with his elderly grandmother and his younger half brother. He’s always one step ahead or behind
the local Sheriff. He’s
continually in trouble at school too.
The Principal makes him a deal, if he writes an essay over the summer,
he will not send his revealing record to high school. Robbie spends his days wondering when his mother will come
home from California and taking care of his brother, Fess. His older brother Lucas comes to live
with them for a while but he’s trouble.
This film shows the reality of broken families and poverty. Regular people in hard times trying to
get by and grow up without role models.
Slow paced but interesting locations and good performances. 3* (This movie is OK)
