Filmmaker Amon Goldfinger’s 98-year-old grandmother has passed away. She has lived in the same Tel Aviv flat
for 70 years. She immigrated to
Israel from Germany with his grandfather when the Nazi regime came into
power. Amon and his mother plus
other relatives are left with the task of cleaning out the apartment. They find many discoveries about their
family in letters and photographs.
They are surprised at correspondence with an SS Officer. Amon also finds it interesting that
his mother never questioned his grandparents about the family.
I think viewers may be divided into love this or why was this movie
made? Genealogists will love every
aspect of this film and it will inspire them to dig deeper into their own
heritage. Those not interested in
gemology or without the talents to investigate may the ones to wonder why? I did think historians could be
interested in the correspondence and files? 3* (This movie is OK)
