Adapted from a P.D. James novel, ace
Detective Superintendent Adam Dalgliesh and Inspector John Massingham
have been following a notorious drug dealer for about a year. It
shouldn't be a surprise that he is found murdered but it does have a
tremendous impact on their investigation. The only witness is a young
mother who had been working at an exclusive London book club where his body
was found. She traveled by
train to show her young baby boy to her former co-workers. The case
gets more complicated as the investigation broadens and more people are
involved. Dalgliesh is a master at questioning suspects, he can get
information out of people just by his attitude and methods.
I kept
trying to figure out who was murderer, even to the last
episode. I thought I had solved it but everything was turned
around. Even when you focus on the least likely person, it turns out
to be someone else and this film takes it's time getting to the
solution. 4* (I really liked this movie)
